With a rich background encompassing over two decades of experience in sales, marketing, real estate, and general management, Atul is renowned for his exceptional talents in man-management and strategic planning. Presently serving as the managing director at Skylark Group India, Rudrapur, Atul’s journey to success was not paved with silver spoons, but with hard work and determination instilled by his principled father, Arjun Gupta. Recognizing the value of education, Atul pursued his studies at prestigious institutions, from Welham Boys’ School in Dehradun to University of Delhi, where he earned his Bachelor’s in Commerce. Furthering his qualifications, he obtained a degree in international business and trade from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, and even ventured into software engineering from IBM. Atul’s foray into entrepreneurship began early, as he worked part-time during his college years, gaining invaluable insights into financial management and project execution. His journey took a significant turn when he ventured into the real estate sector, starting with a venture on his father’s land in Rudrapur. Promising to repay his father within two years at a higher return rate than prevailing market rates, Atul delivered on his promise, marking the beginning of Skylark Group’s success story. “Each setback is a valuable lesson, shaping his outlook on both life and business,” says Atul. Under Atul’s dynamic leadership, Skylark Group diversified into various sectors, from technology to social work, hospitality, entertainment, organic farming, beauty products and mobile applications. Notable projects include the Rave Miniplex at Rudrapur, a cherished endeavor where his father, now retired, shares his wisdom as a director.
The group’s fine dining Olive Green restaurant is a testament to Atul’s passion for hospitality. Despite encountering setbacks and facing failures along his entrepreneurial journey, Atul Gupta’s resolve remains unshaken as he relentlessly pursues excellence. To him, each setback is a valuable lesson, shaping his outlook on both life and business. Inspired by the wisdom and tenacity of visionaries such as Ratan Tata, APJ Abdul Kalam, and Steve Jobs, Atul embodies resilience and determination, fueling his commitment to innovation and progress. Instead of lavish celebrations, he spends his birthdays with underprivileged children, and income from commercial projects goes towards running a gaushala in memory of his grandfather. His upcoming project, Skylark Shree Housing Project, aims to provide affordable luxury to lower-middle-class and working-class individuals, inspired by the plight of his driver.
